One of the best things about booking a professional newborn photographer is that you don't have to build a newborn photography collection at home just for your session.
I provide the props and styling details needed for your session.
That can include wraps, blankets, carefully selected props, and other pieces to create the look we have planned together.
If there is something personal that has special meaning to your family, a blanket from Grandma, a little toy, a special keepsake, or something you've been saving for your baby, we can absolutely talk about incorporating it.
And if you don't have anything special to bring?
That's completely fine too.
You don't need to buy anything for your session.
What should my baby wear?
For many newborn portraits, babies photograph beautifully when wrapped simply and comfortably.
The goal isn't to overwhelm your baby with complicated clothing or accessories.
Instead, I focus on creating photographs that allow you to see all those tiny details you will miss one day:
Those little fingers.
Those tiny toes.
The sleepy face.

Because they really don't stay this tiny for long.
What should parents and siblings wear?
Don't stress about this one either.
I want you to wear something that feels like you.

For my Toronto family photographs, neutral and soft colours can photograph beautifully, but you don't have to dress your entire family in matching outfits.
Coordinating is usually much more beautiful than everyone wearing the exact same thing.

Can we do newborn photos at home?
Absolutely.
90% of my newborn photography in West Toronto are taken in my client's homes. This is because I want my clients, especially new moms to feel as comfortable as possible during the session. The stress of travelling to my studio is already eliminated from the whole thing.
One of the beautiful things about newborn photography is that there isn't one right place to have your session.

How long does a newborn photography session take?
I don't believe newborn photography should feel like a race.

The exact length of your session depends on the type of session you book, but I always encourage families to allow enough time so we don't feel rushed.
The goal is not simply to take as many photographs as possible.
The goal is to create beautiful photographs while giving you an experience you actually enjoy.
What if my baby won't sleep?
This question deserves its own section because I know how much it worries parents.
Your baby does not have to sleep perfectly for us to create beautiful photographs.
Some of my favourite newborn images are awake photographs.
Those tiny eyes looking around.

The little stretches.
